Accessibility Statement

This statement applies to status-lark.com: the hub, the five tools (Flights, Hotels, Where to Credit, Tier Point Run, Status Matches), the Atlas globe, and every programme, route, calculator, guide and reference page.

Status Lark is run by one person. We want everyone to be able to use the site, whatever technology they use to browse it. That means you should be able to:

  • navigate every page and complete every calculation using only a keyboard;
  • use a screen reader and hear results, errors and status changes announced;
  • zoom to 400% or view the site on a 320px-wide screen without content being cut off or scrolling sideways;
  • read every piece of text at a contrast that meets the standard below;
  • pause any movement on screen, and have the site respect a reduced-motion preference.

Our target

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 (opens in a new tab) at Level AA on every page and in every tool journey. Status Lark is a private site, so the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 do not apply to it; we use them as the benchmark anyway because they define what "accessible" means in the UK. The Equality Act 2010 does apply, and this statement is part of how we meet its anticipatory duty to make reasonable adjustments.

How accessible this website is

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA. "Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content have not yet been checked against every criterion.

On 11 September 2026 an independent review tested 26 pages covering every page template, at desktop and mobile sizes, with automated tooling (axe-core), a code-level review and scripted keyboard-only journeys through every tool. It found 32 issues, from a globe that could not be paused or driven by keyboard to links distinguished from surrounding text by colour alone. All of them bar one advisory item at Level AAA have since been fixed.

What has not yet been tested

The review did not include testing with real assistive technology. Until it does, we cannot claim full conformance. The outstanding checks are:

  • VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, and NVDA on Windows, through the Flights calculator, Where to Credit and Atlas;
  • Windows High Contrast (forced-colours) mode on the calculator and the tier ladder tables;
  • browser zoom at 400% on the Flights calculator;
  • voice control software on the calculators.

We will update this statement when each is done.

Known limitations

  • Atlas. The globe is drawn on a canvas, so its arcs are not readable by a screen reader. The globe can be rotated and zoomed from the keyboard and paused at any time, and the route list beside it carries every route as text. Under a reduced-motion preference the globe starts still and moves only when you ask it to.
  • Programme currency abbreviations. Terms such as TP, XP and PQP are explained on the programme pages but are not always expanded on first use in every guide. This is a Level AAA criterion (3.1.4) and is on the list.
  • Third-party content. The site uses a cookieless analytics beacon from Cloudflare. Any future sponsored placement will be within the scope of this statement.

Reporting a problem

If you find something on this site that you cannot use, or that this statement does not cover, please email [email protected]. Tell us the page, what you were trying to do and, if you can, the browser and assistive technology you use. We aim to look at every accessibility report within a week and to say what we will do about it. If you need any information on this site in a different format, ask at the same address. Every calculator result also carries a quick feedback control, but it takes preset reasons only, so email is the route for anything specific.

How we keep this up to date

  • Automated accessibility checks and keyboard journeys are re-run before any change to the site's shared components or stylesheet.
  • The whole site is reviewed again once a year, and sooner whenever a new interactive tool is added.
  • This statement was prepared on 11 September 2026 and reflects the review of the same date. It will next be reviewed by 11 September 2027, or earlier if the checks above are completed.
