The price you pay does not change it, though on medium-haul international Economy flights the fare type does: a Basic fare earns less and a Flex fare more. A short international hop in Economy earns a handful of XP; long-haul Business or First earns many times more. Domestic flights within France and the Netherlands earn at a lower rate.

Flying Blue resets your qualifying balance when you reach a tier. The middle column is the total from a standing start; the last column is what a member who has just qualified for the tier below still has to earn.
Keeping a tier is a different bar from reaching it. The last column is what Flying Blue publishes for a member who already holds the tier, over a qualification window of the same length as the reaching figure’s (the window above says how it is anchored). “Same as the step up” means Flying Blue says keeping the tier takes the same amount as the step that earned it. A dash means no retention figure comparable with the reaching one is shown for that rung, not that renewal is automatic; where the programme publishes one over a different window, its note gives it.
XP resets by the tier's cost each time you move up, and the 12-month qualification period is anchored to your own activity: it starts with your first Mile or XP and restarts on every level-up, so there is no fixed calendar window. Elite members keep up to 300 surplus XP. XP is earned on Air France, KLM, Transavia, all SkyTeam partners, Aircalin and Air Corsica (Paris-Orly–Corsica routes only, not modelled here); other airlines earn Miles but no XP. On medium-haul Economy (international, under 2,000 miles) a Basic fare earns a flat 2 XP instead of 5 and a Flex fare adds 2 (7 XP), so pick the fare brand. Ultimate qualifies on 900 UXP, a different currency earned only on Air France and KLM-marketed flights, and XP can also be earned without flying: sustainable-aviation-fuel and charity contributions earn 1 XP per €10. Flying Blue itself labels its XP table and simulator indicative, and XP is set by distance band, so a sector just over a boundary earns the next band up (London Heathrow–New York JFK is 3,451 miles, 49 miles below the 3,500 top of its band).
