Etihad Guest status tiers and Tier Miles thresholds
Etihad Guest is Etihad Airways' loyalty programme. Etihad is not a member of Oneworld, SkyTeam or Star Alliance, so there is no alliance-wide status recognition: the benefits that apply are the ones Etihad Guest publishes.
Members join at Bronze and move up through Silver, Gold and Platinum by collecting Tier Miles, part of which must come from flying. Keeping a tier takes fewer Tier Miles than reaching it. Emerald, above Platinum, is reached on flight spend rather than Tier Miles. The table below sets out the published figures.
Etihad Guest tiers
For an upgrade, Tier Miles count over a rolling 12 months including the current month. To keep a tier, they count over the 12 months that end with your current tier end date; a tier is valid for 12 months from the month you qualify.
| Tier | Tier Miles required from zero | To retain |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | 25,000 | 20,000 |
| Gold | 50,000 | 40,000 |
| Platinum | 125,000 | 100,000 |
Keeping a tier is a different bar from reaching it. The last column is what Etihad Guest publishes for a member who already holds the tier, over a qualification window of the same length as the reaching figure’s (the window above says how it is anchored). A dash means no retention figure comparable with the reaching one is shown for that rung, not that renewal is automatic; where the programme publishes one over a different window, its note gives it.
Requirements beyond the threshold
- Silver — At least 10,000 Tier Miles from flying, to reach and to keep the tier.
- Gold — At least 20,000 Tier Miles from flying, to reach and to keep the tier.
- Platinum — At least 40,000 Tier Miles from flying, to reach and to keep the tier.
These apply in addition to the Tier Miles figure, so reaching the number alone does not confer the tier.
Each tier needs part of its Tier Miles from flying: Tier Miles from Qualifying Flights on Etihad or an Etihad Guest partner airline, as opposed to cards and other non-airline partners. Emerald, the top tier, is reached and kept on USD 150,000 of spend on flights, excluding taxes (on Etihad flights only, to keep it), rather than Tier Miles, so it is not in this table. Until 31 March 2027, unless Etihad Guest changes or withdraws the offer sooner, members who held Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum on 17 March 2026 need 25% less: 18,750, 37,500 and 93,750 Tier Miles to reach Silver, Gold and Platinum (15,000, 30,000 and 75,000 to keep them), with 7,500, 15,000 and 30,000 from flying.

Frequently asked questions
- How do Etihad Guest upgrades work?
- Etihad Guest counts the Tier Miles you have earned over a rolling 12 months, including the current month. Once you hold the total for the next tier, and enough of it from flying, the tier qualification is met. Tier Segments have been discontinued, so Tier Miles are the only route.
- What counts as Tier Miles from flying?
- Tier Miles earned on Qualifying Flights with Etihad Airways or an Etihad Guest partner airline. Tier Miles from co-branded cards, payment cards and other non-airline partners count towards the total but not towards the part that must come from flying.
- Is the 25% reduction for everyone?
- No. Etihad Guest's reduced criteria apply from 18 March 2026 to 31 March 2027 to members who already held Bronze, Silver, Gold or Platinum on 17 March 2026, and Etihad Guest may change or withdraw it sooner. The note under the table gives the reduced figures. Emerald is not reduced.
- Can Status Lark calculate how many Tier Miles a flight earns?
- Not yet. Etihad Guest is not one of the programmes our earning calculator models, so this page covers the tier ladder only. The tier-progress calculator works from the Tier Miles you already hold.
Etihad Airways is not a member of Oneworld, SkyTeam or Star Alliance, so Etihad Guest status brings only the benefits the programme itself publishes.
