AAdvantage Loyalty Points Calculator
American Airlines AAdvantage qualifies status on Loyalty Points: flying earns them in step with the miles awarded on your fare, so a higher fare and a premium cabin earn more Loyalty Points toward Gold, Platinum, Platinum Pro and Executive Platinum.

Frequently asked questions
- How are AAdvantage Loyalty Points earned on flights?
- Flights credited to AAdvantage earn Loyalty Points equal to the base AAdvantage miles awarded, which for American-marketed fares are based on what you spend and your elite earning rate. Partner flights booked on partner fares earn by distance and booking class instead.
- What counts toward status besides flying?
- Unusually among major programmes, Loyalty Points also accrue from co-branded credit-card spend and shopping partners — so a flying-only calculation understates how attainable AAdvantage status is for many members.
- When does the qualification year run?
- The AAdvantage qualification year runs from 1 March to the last day of February, with status valid until 31 March of the following year.
