The figures come from Emirates Skywards' published ladder. This calculator does not work out what a flight earns; it measures the gap from where you are.

Emirates Skywards status tiers
Emirates checks for an upgrade every time you earn Tier Miles, counting those earned in the last 12 months. Your tier is reviewed 12 months after you move into it (to the end of that calendar month, under the Programme Rules), against the Tier Miles earned in that review period.
| Tier | Tier Miles required from zero | To retain |
|---|---|---|
| Silver | 25,000 | Same as to reach |
| Gold | 50,000 | Same as to reach |
| Platinum | 150,000 | Same as to reach |
Keeping a tier is a different bar from reaching it. The last column is what Emirates Skywards publishes for a member who already holds the tier, over a qualification window of the same length as the reaching figure’s (the window above says how it is anchored). “Same as to reach” means Emirates Skywards says the same figure that reaches the tier keeps it. A dash means no retention figure comparable with the reaching one is shown for that rung, not that renewal is automatic; where the programme publishes one over a different window, its note gives it.
Requirements beyond the threshold
- Platinum — At least one Qualifying Flight in Business or First Class, not booked with Cash + Miles or as a reward, to reach and to keep the tier.
These apply in addition to the Tier Miles figure, so reaching the number alone does not confer the tier.
The Programme Rules also let you reach or keep Silver with 25 Qualifying Flights instead of the Tier Miles, and list 50 Qualifying Flights for Gold in the same way (the stored text drops the word "or" there); flights on Cash + Miles or reward tickets do not count. This calculator measures Tier Miles only. Platinum also needs at least one Qualifying Flight in Business or First Class. Tier Miles beyond what a tier needs do not carry forward to the next period, unless you are a Platinum member who has activated Emirates' Tier Miles Rollover privilege, whose terms are not in the pages we hold.

Frequently asked questions
- Which Tier Miles should I enter?
- Those earned in the last 12 months, because Emirates assesses upgrades over that period. Your Skywards account shows the balance that counts.
- Does it check the Platinum Business or First Class flight?
- No. It measures Tier Miles only. Platinum also needs at least one Qualifying Flight in Business or First Class, which the table states beside the tier.
