Finnair Plus status tiers
| Tier | Tier Points required from zero |
|---|---|
| Silver | 15,000 |
| Gold | 45,000 |
| Platinum | 80,000 |
| Platinum Lumo | 300,000 |
Rolling 12-month tracking period anchored to your own join/upgrade date. Platinum Lumo additionally requires at least 250,000 of the 300,000 Tier Points on Finnair-operated flights. Own-metal earning shown assumes Basic tier (6 TP per €1); Silver–Platinum Lumo members earn 7–10 TP per €1, and AA/BA/IB flights carry a further tier bonus. On JAL specifically, Tier Points have been keyed to your own Finnair Plus tier rather than to booking class since 1 May 2026 — Silver 25%, Gold 50%, Platinum and Platinum Lumo 100% of miles flown — and a Basic member earns none at all. NOT MODELLED, and worth knowing: on Finnair’s OTHER partner airlines your tier adds a published uplift to the table rate (Silver +10%, Gold +15%, Platinum and Platinum Lumo +25%). Figures here are at Basic tier, so a member with status earns more on partner metal than shown. Renewal at the same threshold, stated on each tier page (capture X, 5 Sep 2026).
Frequently asked questions
- How are Finnair Tier Points earned?
- On Finnair's own flights you earn Tier Points per euro spent, at a rate set by your current tier: Basic members earn 6 TP per €1, rising through Silver (7), Gold (8) and Platinum (9) to Platinum Lumo (10). Our figures assume Basic tier — higher tiers earn more than shown. On Oneworld partner flights, earning is a percentage of miles flown by booking class (up to 300% in AA/BA First), taken from Finnair's published partner tables. One important exception, and it is now confirmed rather than assumed: since 1 May 2026, JAL flights award Tier Points by your Finnair Plus tier rather than by booking class, and Finnair's table starts at Silver (25% of miles flown, rising to 50% at Gold and 100% at Platinum). A Basic member earns no Tier Points on JAL at all. That reading held up against the obvious objection — that the table might be an uplift on an unstated base — because Finnair writes uplifts in a distinctive way everywhere else on the same page — your tier boosts your earning above the rates shown in the table, Silver +10%, Gold +15% — and the JAL section contains none of it. JAL's figures are unsigned, sit in their own table, and have no base beneath them. Finnair's general terms do still say Tier Points accrue on all Oneworld flights alongside Avios; those terms describe the model that applied to JAL until 30 April 2026 and were not updated when JAL was carved out.
- What are the Finnair Plus tiers?
- The ladder below shows the current thresholds from Silver up to the top tier. Finnair Plus counts Tier Points over a rolling 12-month tracking period anchored to your own join or upgrade date, rather than a fixed calendar year. Avios — the currency you spend — are separate from Tier Points and don't count toward status. Platinum Lumo additionally requires at least 250,000 of its 300,000 Tier Points to come from Finnair-operated flights.
- Do partner flights count toward Finnair status?
- Yes — Oneworld flights credited to Finnair Plus earn Tier Points, and this calculator uses Finnair's published per-carrier tables. One limit worth knowing: on partner airlines other than JAL, a member's own tier adds a published uplift to the table rate (Silver +10%, Gold +15%, Platinum and Platinum Lumo +25%). We model partner earning at Basic tier, so a member with status earns more on partner metal than shown here.
