Velocity Frequent Flyer Tier Calculator

Enter the Status Credits you have earned in the last 365 days, and how many of them came from Virgin Australia marketed or operated flights you flew, to see the distance to move up to each Velocity tier.

The figures come from Velocity's published ladder. This calculator does not work out what a flight earns; it measures the gap from where you are.

Velocity Frequent Flyer status tiers

Upgrades count the Status Credits earned in the previous 365 days. Keeping a tier is assessed after your Review Date, over your Benefit Period: typically 12 months from the day your status was last upgraded, maintained or downgraded.

Keeping a tier is a different bar from reaching it. The last column is what Velocity Frequent Flyer publishes for a member who already holds the tier, over a qualification window of the same length as the reaching figure’s (the window above says how it is anchored). “Same as to reach” means Velocity Frequent Flyer says the same figure that reaches the tier keeps it. A dash means no retention figure comparable with the reaching one is shown for that rung, not that renewal is automatic; where the programme publishes one over a different window, its note gives it.

Requirements beyond the threshold

  • Silver — At least 125 Status Credits from eligible Virgin Australia marketed or operated flights flown by you (100 to keep the tier).
  • Gold — At least 250 Status Credits from eligible Virgin Australia marketed or operated flights flown by you (200 to keep the tier).
  • Platinum — At least 500 Status Credits from eligible Virgin Australia marketed or operated flights flown by you (400 to keep the tier).
  • Platinum Plus — At least 1,500 Status Credits from eligible Virgin Australia marketed or operated flights flown by you, to reach and to keep the tier.

These apply in addition to the Status Credits figure, so reaching the number alone does not confer the tier.

Every tier also needs a minimum of its Status Credits from eligible Virgin Australia marketed or operated flights that you fly yourself: half of the total for Silver, Gold and Platinum, three quarters for Platinum Plus. Status Credits count for 365 days from the day they are earned.

Frequently asked questions

Which Status Credits should I enter?
Those earned in the previous 365 days, because Velocity assesses upgrades over that window. Your Velocity account shows the balance that counts.
Why does it ask about Virgin Australia flights separately?
Every tier needs a minimum of its Status Credits from eligible Virgin Australia marketed or operated flights flown by you, so a member can pass the total and still not upgrade.
