How to Earn Qantas Status Credits
Qantas Frequent Flyer measures status with Status Credits, earned each time you fly on Qantas, Jetstar or a partner airline. They are separate from Qantas Points (the currency you redeem). This guide explains how Status Credits are earned, the thresholds for each tier, and recent programme changes.
Estimates only — confirm with the airline. Rates and thresholds change. Check your fare against the official Qantas Status Credits page before booking for status.

How Status Credits are earned
Status Credits are awarded by a table that combines the route (distance band) and the fare class you book. Flexible and premium fares earn more Status Credits than the cheapest economy fares for the same route. Status Lark models this with five distance zones for Qantas-operated flights, with higher fare brands earning a multiple of the base zone value.
Qantas has also trialled letting members earn a limited number of additional Status Credits per year from everyday spending categories — check qantas.com for the current scheme and caps.
Status thresholds
The membership year is personal to each member (it runs from your join anniversary). Within one membership year you need:
| Tier | Status Credits to attain |
|---|---|
| Silver | 300 |
| Gold | 700 |
| Platinum | 1,400 |
| Platinum One | 3,600 |
Retaining a tier requires slightly fewer Status Credits than attaining it — see qantas.com for the current retention thresholds.
Qantas has announced that from 2027 it intends to remove the separate attain/retain requirements so a single target applies, and to let members roll over a portion of unused Status Credits into the next year. Confirm the details on qantas.com once the change takes effect.
Earning on partner airlines
Qantas is a oneworld member, so partner flights earn Status Credits by route and cabin. Partners include British Airways (BA), American Airlines (AA), Cathay Pacific (CX), Qatar Airways (QR), Japan Airlines (JL), Iberia (IB) and Finnair (AY). Fiji Airways (FJ) is a long-standing earning partner on trans-Pacific routes.
