WestJet Rewards status tiers and tier qualifying spend (CAD) thresholds

WestJet Rewards is WestJet's loyalty programme. WestJet is not a member of Oneworld, SkyTeam or Star Alliance, so there is no alliance-wide status recognition: the benefits that apply are the ones WestJet Rewards publishes.

Status is earned in tier qualifying spend, counted in dollars over a calendar-year Qualifying Year. Members join at Teal and reach Silver, Gold and Platinum as their spend passes each band. The table below sets out the published figures; keeping a tier takes the same spend again.

WestJet Rewards tiers

A Qualifying Year is the calendar year, 1 January to 31 December; your first Qualifying Year begins on the date you enrol and ends on 31 December. Once you reach Silver, Gold or Platinum you keep the benefits for the rest of that year and the whole of the next year.

Keeping a tier is a different bar from reaching it. The last column is what WestJet Rewards publishes for a member who already holds the tier, over a qualification window of the same length as the reaching figure’s (the window above says how it is anchored). “Same as to reach” means WestJet Rewards says the same figure that reaches the tier keeps it. A dash means no retention figure comparable with the reaching one is shown for that rung, not that renewal is automatic; where the programme publishes one over a different window, its note gives it.

WestJet prints the tier bands as dollar amounts with no currency code; they are read here as Canadian dollars because the same page gives its Status Lift and bonus figures in CAD, and 20, 30 and 50 Status Lifts of 200 CAD come to exactly 4,000, 6,000 and 10,000, the three bands. Tier qualifying spend counts from the Qualifying Year, 1 January to 31 December, based on the date flights are flown or packages completed. WestJet publishes no lower figure for keeping a tier: its rewards page gives the tier qualifying spend requirement to retain a tier for the next year as $4,000 for Silver, $6,000 for Gold and $10,000 for Platinum, the same as to reach it, and its tiers page says keeping Silver, Gold or Platinum in later years is based on your total qualifying spend in the second year and each year following. No rollover of spend above a tier's threshold and no soft landing is published. Primary cardholders on the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard earn Status Lift of 200 CAD in tier qualifying spend for every $5,000 of eligible purchases, up to 50 times a year (10,000 CAD); the page lists 20 Status Lifts for Silver, 30 for Gold and 50 for Platinum. Count any Status Lift you hold in the figure you enter. Under the terms effective 9 September 2026, purchases of Sunwing Vacations eligible packages also count towards tier qualifying spend, on 20% of the member's share of the package. Gift of Gold vouchers and the parental leave arrangement are not tier thresholds and are not modelled here.

Frequently asked questions

How do you earn a WestJet Rewards tier?
You accrue tier qualifying spend when you book and travel with WestJet, WestJet Vacations or Sunwing Vacations, and reach Silver, Gold or Platinum when your spend in the Qualifying Year passes the band. Flights, eligible extras such as seat selection and checked baggage, and eligible packages all count; amounts paid with points do not.
How long does WestJet Rewards status last?
Once you reach Silver, Gold or Platinum you keep the benefits for the rest of that Qualifying Year and the whole of the next one. Whether you keep the tier after that is based on your total qualifying spend in the second year and each year after, against the same bands: WestJet gives the requirement to retain a tier for the next year as $4,000 for Silver, $6,000 for Gold and $10,000 for Platinum.
Does the WestJet RBC World Elite Mastercard count towards status?
Yes, for primary cardholders. Eligible cardholders receive a Status Lift of 200 CAD in tier qualifying spend for every $5,000 of eligible purchases, up to 50 Status Lifts a year. WestJet lists 20 Status Lifts for Silver, 30 for Gold and 50 for Platinum. Status Lift is added to your other tier qualifying spend, so enter it with your travel spend.
Can Status Lark calculate how much spend a flight earns?
No. WestJet Rewards is not one of the programmes our earning calculator models, so this page covers the tier ladder only. The tier-progress calculator works from the tier qualifying spend you already hold.

WestJet is not a member of Oneworld, SkyTeam or Star Alliance, so WestJet Rewards status brings only the benefits the programme itself publishes.
