Keeping a tier is a different bar from reaching it. The last column is what Eastern Miles publishes for a member who already holds the tier, over the same qualification window as the reaching figure. “Same as to reach” means Eastern Miles says the same figure that reaches the tier keeps it. A dash means no retention figure comparable with the reaching one is shown for that rung, not that renewal is automatic; where the programme publishes one over a different window, its note gives it.

Requirements beyond the threshold

Gold — Plus CNY 40,000 of annual spend (mandatory, not an alternative).
Platinum — Plus CNY 100,000 of annual spend (mandatory, not an alternative).

These apply in addition to the miles figure, so reaching the number alone does not confer the tier.

Upgrade thresholds are in kilometres, and earning here is modelled in kilometres too: Silver 13 qualifying segments or 15,000 qualifying kilometres, Gold 25 segments or 25,000 km, Platinum 45 segments or 55,000 km — each also needing annual spend (CNY 20,000, CNY 40,000 and CNY 100,000). Renewal uses the same figures with spend mandatory, and consecutive renewals earn published discounts on the segment and kilometre figures, but never on spend. Only tier mileage counts for status; on China Eastern, Shanghai Airlines and China United flights it is the sector's standard mileage at 100%, with no fare-class multiplier, and A, O and X (award and infant tickets) earn nothing. On SkyTeam partners a sector shorter than 500 km counts as 500 km; China Eastern's separate codeshare table (flights sold as MU but flown by a partner) is not modelled, and Japan Airlines, Qantas and Etihad are partners only through that table.
